My niece Claire's 2nd birthday, featuring a monkey cake

They grow up so fast!

Amazing monkey cake courtesy of Sugar Bakeshop on Broadway (right by Corepower Yoga). Thanks Natalie and crew!

Dad's fresh salsa makes things interesting::

I got her some walking shoes, Adidas-style.

Guitar skillz at play. Claire already loves to dance!

And the rest of the August birthday in our family. Happy Birthday to all! Stay tuned for a new wedding, coming soon.

Family pictures at Chautauqua Park in Boulder

There are three words I have to look up every time so I can spell it right:

Albuquerque
chrysanthemum
Chautauqua

Chau-tau-qua. :)

Any other word, I can spell right instantly. I was born to spell, man.

So I met Alex more than a decade ago in college; he was the next-door neighbor of another friend, Fred, who I met in middle school almost two decades ago.

Funny how Facebook continues to connect. Alex contacted me this year to document his extended family at Chautauqua Park in Boulder. The summer light was epic. I loved the location, which I stumbled across by accident during last year's e-sesh with Hilary & Tim.

You'd miss it if you weren't looking for it. It's kind of tucked away, and I'd actually use the word 'glade' to describe it. Beautifully canopied by the giant summer trees. The sunlight speckles down to the ground. Perfect background for a family summer session.

Reuer Family at Wash Park, and a duck (Denver family photographer)

Courtney and I attended the same middle and high schools in Littleton way back in the late 20th century. Many years later, we reconnected on The Facebook and she was pretty psyched to have an awesome family portrait session. Our schedules finally synched up for this autumn, and we picked the perfect day in Wash Park. Courtney and Matt have the most adorable daughters. The first one here couldn't stop running around the autumn leaves.

Oh and the light was perfect.

And the duck! I love Wash Park.
